Afterwards, most importantly, watch the videos where people crashed their drones. Now, I don't care about the delivery - Spend a week watching every video you can find on Youtube (and there are hundreds of them) Before you every attempt to fly the thing. I will give you one piece of advice: If you order a Mavic, or Bebop, or something similar: Don't select overnight delivery. They can handle more wind, and leave you more time for flying. LIke my Mavic, they take a lot of the difficulty out of flying. Look at the camper video where I fly in from the canyon and you can see where things aren't smooth (I should have used airplane mode) and where I could have done things differently.īeyond this, here are professional drones that cost thousands. Even now, I don't consider myself "good" at the movie thing. Having said that, I use only a fraction of my Mavic's capability and flying modes and I've had the thing for a year now. In close in spaces? Maybe a month or two of practice. How long does it take to learn to fly a DJI? In wide open spaces, about 1 day. It leaves you to concentrate on what you're photographing. Which makes them good for things like these canyon shots because you don't worry (as much) about flying into a tree or a canyon wall. If you're flying forward with a DJI mavic, basically if it crashes, you had to crash it. Wind blowing? No issue as long as it's not faster than the drone can handle (about 25mph for me). Let go of the controller and they stop in midair and hover. They are fairly easy to fly because they do a whole lot of the work for you. It ranges down to things like the DJI Mavic Air and BeBop (sorry, forget the manufacturer) for about $500, and and up to things like the DJI Phantom Pro 4 which runs > $1500. They're kind of in the mid-range of price - about $1000 give or take. They don't have the range and they don't have the stability. If you're talking about a $50 drone from WalMart, then the answer is - you'll never be able to get the kind of videos like I posted. #2 - what drone are you wanting to learn to fly? By this, I don't mean exactly what brand, but what category of drone. I'm assuming that you mean something more like: "How long does it take to learn to fly a drone around a relatively open space and be able to take nice videos and pictures" That answer is: It depends on the drone. #1: What do you mean "learn to fly a drone?" If you mean, how long does it take to learn to fly a drone like those people who are racing a drone at 50mph through trees and such - the answer is "A long time".
